Acer Launch Manager

What is Acer Launch Manager?

The Acer Launch Manager which is pre-installed on new PCs is a utility that runs in the background and is designed to provide users a way to quickly launch applications manually as well as automatically. For example, if a DVD is inserted into the DVD drive, the launch manager will activate the pre-installed Acer DVD application as opposed to letting Windows launch the default handler. This application is 100% optional and not required.

The most used version is 8.00.8101, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon installation and setup, it defines an auto-start registry entry which makes this program run on each Windows boot for all user logins. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. The main program executable is lmconfig.exe. The software installer includes 22 files and is usually about 6.86 MB (7,188,710 bytes). LMLiveUpdate.exe is the automatic update component of the software designed to download and apply new updates should new versions be released.
