What is Norton Internet Security?

Norton Internet Security, developed by Symantec Corporation, is a computer program that provides malware prevention and removal during subscription period and uses signatures and heuristics to identify viruses. Other features include a personal firewall, email spam filtering, and phishing protection. Symantec distributes the product as a download, a boxed copy, and as OEM software.


The most common release is, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The primary executable is named ccsvchst.exe. It also includes a system tray icon that is displayed in the notifications area while the program is running. The setup package generally installs about 108 files and is usually about 84.02 MB (88,102,595 bytes).

How do I remove Norton Internet Security?

OMG! you saved my computer. :)) I HATE NORTON SO MUCH! It almost control every apps that im using. I cant even use my IDM because of this shit! I tried REVO to unistall but it doesnt work until I found your guide on where to find the UNINSTALL.exe.. thanks a lot...

Surprised to see so little "hate" for it, considering how so many people seems to think it's crap when they've never used it or because they had to "fix" a PC that had Norton installed, which was most likely expired, so it's not the fault of Norton if the user who bought the PC was too stupid to either get a new AV or buy a new license.
