What is Hotkey Utility?

Gateway Hotkey Utility is a desktop utility to hide programs and windows, instantly shutdown, restart or logoff, open unlimited amounts of websites, programs, games, files, folders, drives and more. Hotkey Utility is instaled by default with all new Gateway computers.


The most used version is 3.00.3004, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon installation and setup, it defines an auto-start registry entry which makes this program run on each Windows boot for all user logins. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The main program executable is hotkeyutility.exe. It also adds an icon to the Windows notifications area in order to provide access to the program. The software installer includes 11 files and is usually about 2.39 MB (2,503,775 bytes).

How do I remove Hotkey Utility?
