Alien Swarm Dedicated Server
What is Alien Swarm Dedicated Server? (from Valve)
Alien Swarm (2010) is a completely free top-down shoot-em-up for up to four co-op players, created by Black Cat Games after the company was bought up by Valve. Its complete source code is provided in a new SDK as a sample project for Source modders, much like Team Fortress Classic was for GoldSrc.
Overview
Alien Swarm Dedicated Server is a program developed by Valve. Upon installation, it defines an auto-start registry entry which allows the program run on each boot for the user which installed it. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The software installer includes 26 files and is usually about 2.27 MB (2,384,698 bytes). In comparison to the total number of users, most PCs are running the OS Windows 7 (SP1) as well as Windows 10. While about 38% of users of Alien Swarm Dedicated Server come from the United States, it is also popular in Canada and Germany.
