What is iMesh?

iMesh is a media and file sharing client that's available in 9 languages. It uses a proprietary, centralized, P2P network (IM2Net) operating on ports 80, 443 and 1863. iMesh operates the first "RIAA-approved" P2P service, allowing users residing in United States and Canada to download music content of choice for a monthly fee in the form of either a Premium subscription or a "ToGo" subscription. This subscription based approach is advocated by theories such as the Open Music Model.

The most used version is, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon installation, it defines an auto-start registry entry which allows the program run on each boot for the user which installed it. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The main program executable is imesh.exe. The software installer includes 40 files and is usually about 52.1 MB (54,627,091 bytes).
