DataMask by AOL
What is DataMask by AOL? (from AOL)
DataMask by AOL is a simple and secure software that disguises your personal data from cyber crooks and threatening websites by hiding your keystrokes (anti-keylogging) and diverting you away from sites designed to steal and use your personal information (anti-phishing).
Overview
DataMask by AOL is a software program developed by AOL. The most common release is 5.6.0.10077, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. It adds a Browser Helper Object (BHO) to Internet Explorer. In the Google Chrome browser, it will add an extension. The setup package generally installs about 74 files and is usually about 12.99 MB (13,625,313 bytes). Relative to the overall usage of users who have this installed on their PCs, most are running Windows 7 (SP1) and Windows 10. While about 98% of users of DataMask by AOL come from the United States, it is also popular in United Kingdom and Italy.
