What is Belarc Advisor?
Belarc also offers the Belarc Advisor as a free download for personal use. The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of installed software and hardware, missing security patches, anti-virus status, NIST SCAP security configurations (USGCB, FDCC), and displays the results in a Web browser. All of the profile information is kept private on the user's computer and is not sent to any web server.

Overview
A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The main program executable is BelarcAdvisor.exe. The software installer includes 5 files and is usually about 5.05 MB (5,295,890 bytes).
