Autostar Updater is the updater program which runs with Windows (in the background as a service) and automatically starts up when your computer boots. It checks for updates and automatically downloads and installs them if found based on the user's settings.

The open architecture of the Meade Autostar permits the update of operating software, the loading of events such as comets, satellites, and minor planets, and allows you to share or "clone" this information with other Autostars.

A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The primary executable is named AU2.exe. The setup package generally installs about 12 files and is usually about 19.65 MB (20,608,667 bytes). The installed file mySKYUpdate.exe is the auto-update component of the program which is designed to check for software updates and notify and apply them when new versions are discovered.

• Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.
2. When you find the program Autostar Updater, click it, and then do one of the following:
• Windows Vista/7/8/10: Click Uninstall.
• Windows XP: Click the Remove or Change/Remove tab (to the right of the program).
3. Follow the prompts. A progress bar shows you how long it will take to remove Autostar Updater.
