Another two tips:- Exclude your Autodesk Media Storage folder from Spotlight. Since Smoke wtreis alot of small files (one per rendered frame essentially) your system will be held up indexing them, so you will loose IO speed while in practice you will never search inside this directory anyway- Watch out for your tablet settings at the moment Smoke has a nasty habit of modifying them and not switching them back. A workaround for the moment is to change the permissions for the Wacom .plist file in your user Preferences folder so that Smoke can't get at it (you have a decent settings window for the Wacom already in your System Preferences, don't use the one that Smoke offers).
