Adobe Photoshop Elements 9

What is Adobe Photoshop Elements 9?

Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 is a raster image editing product. Targeted at hobbyists and consumers, it is sold at a fraction of the cost of its professional sibling, Adobe Photoshop. It contains most of the features of the professional version but with fewer and simpler options. The program allows users to create, edit, organize and share images, all from the same product.

The most common release is 9.0, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. It adds registry entry for the current user which will allow the program to automatically start each time it is rebooted. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. The primary executable is named Photoshop Elements 9.0.exe. The setup package generally installs about 11 files and is usually about 2.6 MB (2,726,298 bytes).
