weDownload Manager Pro

What is weDownload Manager Pro?

WeDownload Manager Pro is a software download manager that is designed to deliver potentially legitimate software wrapped in an installer that delivers various offers of toolbars and other potentially unwanted software. Software is hosted and distributed from xtremedownload.com. From the EULA: "In addition, if a sponsored software offer, like for example a toolbar, will be offered, it shall change the User's home page, default search settings and 404-error traffic, in the event the User selects such options. The WeDownload Manager launches the installation of the downloaded software products."

This particular version of the manager is a web browser extension with the following functionality:

- Changes the web browser's default home page to the affiliate search portal.
- Changes the browser's search provider, built-in search box as well as the address bar.
- Ability to modify the 'new tab' functionality to launch the modified search portal page.
