What is YTD Toolbar?
YTD Toolbar is a potentially unwanted web browser extension that is ad-supported and will display various popup and banner ads as well as modify the user's web browser search and home page settings. This plugin will update Internet Explorer (as a BHO), Chrome (as an extension) and Firefox (as an add-in). In some cases, the program will monitor a user's behavior (which the user agreed to if they did not read the full EULA) and will inject rival advertisements over existing one or just inject new ones all together. This toolbar is typically bundled by third party download managers/installers or through questionable online ads.
As part of the installation process the publisher may offer changes to your Internet Browser settings. These changes if approved by you can be reconfigured by you at any time from the options dialog available on your Internet Browser. Such changes may include the following:
- The homepage of your Internet Browser
- The default search engine in your Internet Browser's built-in search box
- The page displayed when opening a new tab
Overview
The program adds a toolbar to Microsoft Internet Explorer. The primary executable is named WidgiHelper.exe. Many users end up uninstalling this after less than a month of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 4 files and is usually about 4.63 MB (4,853,119 bytes).
- Integrates into the web browser
- Delivered through a thrid-party offer
- Displays advertisements unassociated with the underlying web page
- May modify the web browser's home page
- The wisdom of the experts agree, if you don't use it you should remove it!
YTD Toolbar has been found to be bundled with 3rd party software. If you have not purposefully installed this, you should be safe uninstalling it.
