What is WinZip?
Winzip 15.5 supports a new compression algorithms designed for multi-processor systems that zip files up to twice as fast, new WinZip Desktop Gadget option called 'Folder I Choose' that allows you to create or select a target folder for zipping/unzipping files on a case-by-case basis. WinZip is a proprietary file archiver and compressor that creates archives in the ZIP file format but also has various levels of support for other archive formats.

Overview
The most used version is 15.5.9579, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. When installed, it will add a context menu handler to the Windows shell in order to provide quick access to the program. The main program executable is winzip32.exe. The software installer includes 119 files and is usually about 62.86 MB (65,916,424 bytes).
