What is WinASO Registry Optimizer?
WinASO Registry Optimizer is registry cleaner/fixer utility whose purported purpose is to remove redundant items from the Windows registry. The software helps to automate the process of looking for invalid entries, missing file references or broken links within the registry and resolving or removing them. The necessity and usefulness of registry cleaners is a controversial topic, with experts in disagreement over their benefits.
Overview
A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The primary executable is named RegOpt.exe. Many users end up uninstalling this after less than a month of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 11 files and is usually about 147.22 MB (154,370,567 bytes).
