from Web Cake LLC
What is Web Cake?
Web Cake (also known as WebCake desktop) is an adware program that displays coupons with offers and advertisements when you are shopping online. During installation the web browser extension will modify various settings and security settings of the installed web browsers. From the EULA it states: "Certain browser and search engine settings may be adjusted to optimize the performance of the Software. If your settings were optimized during installation, they will be automatically adjusted to the optimized settings below after install. You may change these settings at any time. PLEASE NOTE THAT CERTAIN OPTIMIZED SETTINGS MAY LOWER YOUR BROWSER SECURITY LEVEL."
In addition the extension will change the user's default home page and search settings. Enables both HTTPS (encrypted with SSL/TLS protocol) content and HTTP (unencrypted) content on a webpage without first alerting the user and obtaining consent. Search engine results will open in a new browser tab window when clicked.
