System Mechanic
Overview
System Mechanic is a program developed by iolo technologies. The most used version is 17.0.1.11, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program registers itself to launch on boot through a Windows Schedule Task in order to automatically start-up. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). When installed, it will add a context menu handler to the Windows shell in order to provide quick access to the program. The main program executable is ShouldIRemoveIt.exe. The software installer includes 52 files and is usually about 31.33 MB (32,848,775 bytes). ioloSmartUpdater.exe is the automatic update component of the software designed to download and apply new updates should new versions be released. In comparison to the total number of users, most PCs are running the OS Windows 10 as well as Windows 7 (SP1). While about 80% of users of System Mechanic come from the United States, it is also popular in United Kingdom and Germany.
