SigmaTel Audio
What is SigmaTel Audio?
SigmaTel Audio is (was) a line of audio codec chips that were integrated into many desktops, notebooks, and other audio playback devices, notably MP3 players. Audio encoding and recording to flash memory in MP3 and WAV formats are supported from microphone, SigmaTel FM IC (STFM1000) digital audio source, or line-in. Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts and reference schematics were provided to OEM and Original Development Manufacturing (ODM) customers, driving easy manufacturing.
Overview
The most common release is 5.10.5210.0, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. The primary executable is named pstubxx.exe. The setup package generally installs about 98 files and is usually about 25.96 MB (27,221,894 bytes).

How do I remove SigmaTel Audio?
You can uninstall SigmaTel Audio from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
