Rapidboot Advanced
What is Rapidboot Advanced?
Rapid Boot Extreme technology will enable users to “start their PC as fast as 10 seconds and open applications two times faster” than typical Windows 7 PCs. The new technology is part of Lenovo’s Enhanced Experience program for Windows 7 and was achieved through various tweaks and optimizations; mainly the use of proprietary BIOS along with developing faster drivers.
Overview
The most common release is 1.00.0502, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The primary executable is named fbconsole.exe. The setup package generally installs about 5 files and is usually about 80.85 MB (84,774,420 bytes). The installed file FBLiveUpdate.dll is the auto-update component of the program which is designed to check for software updates and notify and apply them when new versions are discovered.
