PriceGong 2.6.4
What is PriceGong?
PriceGong is a browser add-in for Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox that analyzes web sites your browser visits and attempts to find coupons and other deals associated with the merchant's product offerings or services. If PriceGoing sees a corresponding deal, it will attempt to inject an affiliate 'code' in order to collect various affiliate based commissions if a purchase is made while trying to offer you the best price of that particular product, or, in many cases try and show you an alternative product that is similar even if it is sold by a different merchant. When visiting one of the domains on the limited list, the PriceGong extension will send the product or service information you are viewing to its servers in order to search for alternatives.
From the installer:
"PriceGong is a browser add-on (extension) that designed to help you compare products and prices while you shop online. When you visit an e-commerce website, PriceGong detects the product you are looking for and automatically search thousands of vendors for more deals and better price. Alternative prices and other product information will then be displayed in a slider window in the right side of the screen.
PriceGong is activated only on pre-defined sites. The sites list is updated from time to time, and is stored on your local machine. When you visit a site in that list, the PriceGong add-on sends the product information you are looking for to PriceGong servers in order to search for alternatives deals.
When you search for a product in e-commerce sites, PriceGong may insert a small tag link inside the HTML page near the product price or near the product details. Clicking on a tag link will send the product details to PriceGong servers to compare prices for the product. If alternative prices or offers are found, they will be displayed in a PriceGong results window."
