What is PC SpeedScan Pro?

PC SpeedScan Pro from Ascentive, the group that does the FinallyFastPC informercials, is a PC optimization program. PC SpeedScan Pro has also been included with bundled installations as well as bundles the Ascentive Performance Center product which is not uninstalled when PC PC SpeedScan Pro is uninstalled.

The most common release is 7.7.6, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The primary executable is named pcspeedscan.exe. It also includes a system tray icon that is displayed in the notifications area while the program is running. Many users end up uninstalling this after less than a month of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 8 files and is usually about 3.15 MB (3,298,015 bytes).

How do I remove PC SpeedScan Pro?

You can uninstall PC SpeedScan Pro from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
  1. On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, under Programs, do one of the following:
