What is NETGEAR Powerline Utility?
The Powerline Utility is an optional management software on PC for advanced configurations. NETGEAR Powerline products work on Win 7 independent of this utility.
Overview
The most used version is 3.1.0.4, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The main program executable is NETGEAR_Powerline_Utility.exe. The software installer includes 23 files and is usually about 8.02 MB (8,412,411 bytes). NtgrAdapterUpdate.dll is the automatic update component of the software designed to download and apply new updates should new versions be released.
