What is Mozilla Thunderbird?
Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, open source, cross-platform email, news and chat client developed by the Mozilla Foundation. The project strategy is modeled after Mozilla Firefox, a project aimed at creating a web browser. Thunderbird is an email, newsgroup, news feed and chat (XMPP, IRC, Twitter) client. Thunderbird provides enterprise and government-grade security features such as SSL/TLS connections to IMAP and SMTP servers. Extensions allow the addition of features through the installation of XPInstall modules via the add-ons website which also features an update functionality to update the extensions. Thunderbird 3.1.9 fixes the following issues in Thunderbird 3.1.8: Prevents a crash after update, that is affecting some users. Removing Thunderbird 3.1 won't remove your emails or newsgroup messages. When you install Thunderbird 3.1 all of your Extensions and Themes will be disabled until Thunderbird 3.1 determines that either a) they are compatible with Thunderbird 3.1 or b) there are newer versions available that are compatible.
