LookThisUp

What is LookThisUp?

LookThisUp is an adware Internet extension that will inject advertisements to the browser on web pages that are not affiliated with the ads or the extension. Ads will be places as new ads that would not normally appear. LookThisUp is not related to or endorsed by the underlying websites.

In addition to advertisements place on the pages visits, LookThisUp will track and report back any keywords the user searches with, URLs visited and domains access including ads shown as well as ads clicked on.

Also, the software will modify the security settings of the browser, in particular Internet Explorer by turning off IE's Load Time Alert feature and shutting off Internet Explorer Accelerators. In Firefox, LookThisUp loads a lock file that prevents other software from changing settings stopping LookThisUp from running. LookThisUp will disable Content Security Policy (CSP) in FireFox and Chrome which is a layer of security that helps detect and mitigate certain types of attacks, effectually lowering your computers security.

Internet Explorer 10. Internet Explorer 10 supports two versions: Metro and desktop versions. Metro version does not support browser extensions so LookThisUp will set the desktop version for Internet Explorer as the default browsing experience.

How do I remove LookThisUp?

You can uninstall LookThisUp from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
  1. On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, under Programs, do one of the following:
    • Windows Vista/7/8/10: Click Uninstall a Program.
    • Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. When you find the program LookThisUp, click it, and then do one of the following:
