What is Linux Mint?

Linux Mint is a computer operating system based on the Linux distribution Ubuntu. Linux Mint adds features that Ubuntu does not have such as providing a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including proprietary software including Java and the Adobe Flash web browser plugin, which are not installed by default in most Linux distributions. Due to issues with licensing, proprietary drivers for hardware such as wireless cards are not included by default, though they can be downloaded for free after installation. Linux Mint experiences a large amount of popularity because of its simplified user experience and a Microsoft Windows feel.

How do I remove Linux Mint?

You can uninstall Linux Mint from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
  1. On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, under Programs, do one of the following:
    • Windows Vista/7/8/10: Click Uninstall a Program.
    • Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. When you find the program Linux Mint, click it, and then do one of the following:
    • Windows Vista/7/8/10: Click Uninstall.
    • Windows XP: Click the Remove or Change/Remove tab (to the right of the program).
  3. Follow the prompts. A progress bar shows you how long it will take to remove Linux Mint.
