Overview

Internet Download Manager is a software program developed by Tonec. The most common release is v6.05, with over 0% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. It adds a Browser Helper Object (BHO) to Internet Explorer. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. Once installed, it will add an extension to both the Firefox and Chrome web browsers. The programs's main executable is idman.exe and has been seen to consume an average CPU of less than one percent, and utilizes about 9.05 MB of memory. The setup package generally installs about 69 files and is usually about 14.43 MB (15,129,297 bytes). Relative to the overall usage of users who have this installed on their PCs, most are running Windows 7 (SP1) and Windows 10. While about 14% of users of Internet Download Manager come from the United States, it is also popular in Egypt and Iran.

This is the best download mgr I have used. It asks you once per download if you wish to download with IDM, then if you chose YES, it immediately does everything on auto pilot while you watch, or while you tend to other work. TRUE AS STATED: It downloads up to 5X faster than average download speed, and does pickup where it left off if interrupted in any way including a power outages or lockouts. Lots of useful extras such as downloading of all pics from a web page, or download the entire web page. I've been using it for 18 months. It jumps in and works well without a hitch at every download. I would not delete it bcuz I would really miss it!

The only way this has Malware in it is if someone downloads a cracked or patched version of this and the crack or patch is infected. I bought it and it has no malware, no adware no nothing except good fast download speeds.

I have been using IDM for about 2 and a half years, and am delighted with how quickly and cleanly it downloads virtually any program that I choose to download, 5 times as fast as normal as claimed, without any glitches. I really like the Internet Download Manager so have no plans to remove it. I have never had any issues with malware files being introduced during downloads. I think that the 5 malware files shown above may have been introduced through more menacing apps than IDM.
