FTdownloader uses the Installdaddy download and install manager which is designed to co-bundle additional offers which include toolbars, web browser extensions as well as various potentially unwanted applications. Installdaddy is a software network that enables software developers to distribute their software and earn money in the process.

The most common release is 1.27.153.8, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program registers itself to launch on boot through a Windows Schedule Task in order to automatically start-up (this is typically done to avoid any UAC prompts).
