EA Download Manager (formerly EA Downloader and EA Link) is a digital distribution, digital rights management system from Electronic Arts that allows users to purchase computer games on the Internet and download them directly to their PC.
Overview
EA Link is a program developed by Electronic Arts. The most used version is 3.1.1.4, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon installation, it defines an auto-start registry entry which allows the program run on each boot for the user which installed it. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The main program executable is Core.exe. The software installer includes 20 files and is usually about 7 MB (7,344,523 bytes). The program is built using the Nokia Qt cross-platforms native C++ framework. In comparison to the total number of users, most PCs are running the OS Windows Vista (SP2) as well as Windows Vista (SP1). While about 74% of users of EA Link come from the United States, it is also popular in Canada and France.
