Overview

Download App is a software program developed by CBS Interactive. The most common release is 1.8.0, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program registers itself to launch on boot through a Windows Schedule Task in order to automatically start-up (this is typically done to avoid any UAC prompts). A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The primary executable is named cbsi.appstore.main.exe. Many users end up uninstalling this after less than a month of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 25 files and is usually about 61.68 MB (64,676,383 bytes). Relative to the overall usage of users who have this installed on their PCs, most are running Windows 7 (SP1) and Windows 10. While about 68% of users of Download App come from the United States, it is also popular in United Kingdom and Canada.

As DAMIEN notes you need to go to settings and disable the scheduler, load at startup etc. I have also noticed that even after I close the application there are processes running. These are called CBSI.AppStore.Main.exe *32. I have to go to task manager and end those processes.

With this program go into settings and set everything to manual not automatic...also make sure to disable it at startup at the checkmark are marked launch at startup...just remove the checkmark is all that is needed...once this is done it will behave nicely as cnet tracker which it replaced used to do nicely...the program once disabled from doing its own thing will then behave nicely without impacting system resources.
