ALZip
What is ALZip? (from ESTsoft)
ALZip is a file compression program that can unzip 40 different zip file archives. ALZip can zip files into 8 different archives such as ZIP, EGG, TAR and others. In ALZip version 8, ALZip’s own EGG format, that Unicode and other powerful function supported, can be used.
Overview
ALZip is a program developed by ESTsoft. The most used version is v8.12, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. When installed, it will add a context menu handler to the Windows shell in order to provide quick access to the program. The main program executable is alzip.exe. The software installer includes 68 files and is usually about 22.38 MB (23,465,858 bytes). ALUpdate.dll is the automatic update component of the software designed to download and apply new updates should new versions be released. In comparison to the total number of users, most PCs are running the OS Windows 7 (SP1) as well as Windows XP. While about 24% of users of ALZip come from the United States, it is also popular in France and Italy.
ALZip has been seen bundling various 3rd party software during the installation process. Make sure to check for and remove unused programs.
