What is Tika Chrome Toolbar?

Babylon's Tika Toolbar is a potentially unwanted ad-supported (adware) toolbar and web browser extension that will hijack the user's browser search page and provider in order to redirect searches to www.tika-search.com. This version installs a Google Chrome extension so that it can run in the background of Google's web browser and provide search redirection as well as including additional advertisements. Note, Montiera Technologies also makes an Internet Explorer version of this toolbar.

Overview

Upon installation, it defines an auto-start registry entry which allows the program run on each boot for the user which installed it. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The main program executable is BabMaint.exe. Typically most users end up uninstalling this just after a few days. The software installer includes 6 files and is usually about 1.25 MB (1,307,358 bytes).
