What is Celebrity Alert?
While being billed as "a free application that provides the latest gossip on celebs from around the world", Celebrity Alert is and adware application that injects ads in the user's web browser. The software installs itself as an extension or browser helper object (BHO) and will intercept HTML page rendering an display new ads the would otherwise not exist in the web page. Overview
The most common release is 2.7.61, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. A majority of users end up uninstalling this less than a week of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 4 files and is usually about 1.37 MB (1,438,729 bytes).

How do I remove Celebrity Alert?
