Tube Dimmer

What is Tube Dimmer?

This software is part of the Injekt, LLC brands of web browser extensions that inject advertisements (banners and popups) in the user's web browser.

From the site: "Tube Dimmer works by installing a browser extension in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome. All of the files for Tube Dimmer are installed in the standard 'Program Files' location - there is no funny business or extra files added. Included in those files is an un-installer that is also registered to appear in your computer's 'Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs' section. A link to the uninstaller is added to your Start Menu under 'Start, Programs, Tube Dimmer'. There are also a couple of registry settings added to your Windows Registry that are required for the normal operation of your app, but there is nothing strange or out of the ordinary here, either. In some cases, we may display product offers during your installation process. Of course, you will have the ability to accept or pass on these offers. We try our very best to make sure any product offering follows best practices and actually provides something of value to you."

Yes the program was hidden under "Updater" by "Creative Island Media". It was hard to find because I first searched for it on the program list by the installed date and could not find it. For some reason the installed date on the program list was shown as exactly one year earlier (2012) to the date it was actually installed (2013). So the installed date was a bogus date. This appears to have been done as an attempt to deceive people so they could not find it to uninstall.
