TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator
What is TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator?
The Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator utility creates a set of discs for returning your Toshiba laptop back to its original factory settings. The process is known as recovery, and wipes your laptop’s hard drive of spyware, adware and even viruses. Recovery may also eliminate performance problems when accessing spreadsheets, forms and other business documents and files. Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator is preinstalled, and requires multiple CDs or DVDs to create an image of your computer’s operating system.
About (from TOSHIBA)
A recovery image of your computer is stored on the hard drive. You can create recovery media from the image using TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator. If you create recovery media in advance, you can recover the system from the recovery media even if you cannot recover the system from the hard drive.
Overview
It is typically pre-installed with most new Toshiba computers. The most common release is 2.0.0.2, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. The primary executable is named ToRDC.exe. The setup package generally installs about 23 files and is usually about 3.49 MB (3,656,628 bytes).
This program is pre-installed on the PC
Pre-installed software such as this is usually included by default on the manufacturer's PC. Many OEM (original equipment manufacture) software that is included with a new PC is useful and in many cases required for the PC to function properly as in the case of various software drivers. However, some pre-installed software is optional and can be safely removed.
