When my Win7 laptop died suddenly, I reluctantly settled for Win8 on my new one. It took me a few days to get back to a Win7 feel and this Desktom Assis was my first target. I got my Start button back with Start8 from Download dot com and it's been smooth sailing since.

The Toshiba desktop assist really stinks as desktop programs go. You can't do anything without going back to the desktop program. You can't even close a program and you don't know if a program closed once you go back to the desktop. I have avoided using it and just go to the windows desktop, but even then you don't have the customary START button. I really hate it. It might be okay for people who don't know anything about computers, but for real users, it is just in the way of real productivity.
