What is Lyrics On?

Lyrics On is a web browser toolbar and extension that modifies the browsers search and home pages as well as delivers contextual based advertising. This toolbar currently supports Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. In order to provide search advertising revenue, the software is designed not only to modify the search provider but to protect it so that it remains the default browser search engine. It is typically installed via a co-bundled offer within a third-party software distribution.

What it does:
- Modifies the default search engine and search provider.
- Changes the default browser home page.
- Adds search functionality from the address bar.
- Adds alternative redirection "page not found".
- Displays contextual advertising.

Overview

During setup, the program registers itself to launch on boot through a Windows Schedule Task in order to automatically start-up (this is typically done to avoid any UAC prompts). It adds a Browser Helper Object (BHO) to Internet Explorer. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The primary executable is named lrcson.dll. Many users end up uninstalling this after less than a month of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 3 files. The installed file lyricupdater.exe is the auto-update component of the program which is designed to check for software updates and notify and apply them when new versions are discovered.
  • Malware detected in the program
  • Automatically starts with Windows
  • Integrates into the web browser
  • May modify the web browser's home page
  • The wisdom of the experts agree, if you don't use it you should remove it!

This is an Adware installed when user download programs from a Brazilian site called Baixaki using Baixaki's download manager. That explains why 98% of installations are from Brazil. You should remove this from your PC... I noticed this after advertisings shown up o Google main page.
