What is BrowserAir?

BrowserAir is a potentially unwanted program is malicious and intrusive and manages to sneak its way into your computer and cause a number of issues that affects performance and privacy. The first issue you'll be faced with is the never-ending flood of pop-up and banner ads as you try to browse the web. Each time you attempt to go online, the adware pop-ups will constantly display in the browser, aside from being extremely annoying, the ads are also highly risky. Their continuous appearance leads to frequent system crashes and a slower computer performance. Furthermore, since the advertisements are also highly unreliable, if you click on them, all you'll have to show for it is more malware getting installed on your computer because the ads are distributed through shady ad networks that use malvertising techniques. But that’s not even the worst part of having BrowserAir running in your computer. While it is running, its is sending detailed information about your web browsing habits to remote ad servers. This information includes your location, the IP addresses you visit, the domains you visit and what your interests are.

The most common release is 37.2.2007.0, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. It adds registry entry for the current user which will allow the program to automatically start each time it is rebooted. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The primary executable is named Updater.exe. A majority of users end up uninstalling this less than a week of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 24 files and is usually about 283.34 MB (297,106,762 bytes). The installed file updater.exe is the auto-update component of the program which is designed to check for software updates and notify and apply them when new versions are discovered.
