BitTorrent is a desktop application that allows you to work with torrent files.BitTorrent allows you to download files available as torrents, search torrent sites for music, videos, books, software and other free or public domain material. BitTorrent will modify system settings upon installation, making the Application the default application for handling torrent files, if you do not already have an program associated with torrent files.

Upon installation, it defines an auto-start registry entry which allows the program run on each boot for the user which installed it. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The main program executable is bittorrent.exe. It also adds an icon to the Windows notifications area in order to provide access to the program. The software installer includes 58 files and is usually about 957.4 KB (980,376 bytes).
BitTorrent has been seen bundling various 3rd party software during the installation process. Make sure to check for and remove unused programs.
