About BitTorrent Inc.
BitTorrent is responsible for the continuing development of the peer-to-peer protocol, as well as the continuing development of µTorrent & BitTorrent Mainline, clients for that protocol. It is a peer-to-peer program developed by Bram Cohen & BitTorrent, Inc. used for uploading & downloading files by the BitTorrent protocol. It was the first client written for the protocol. It is often nicknamed Mainline by developers denoting its official origins. The client has been a rebranded version of ÂµTorrent. As a result, it is no longer open source & is currently available for Microsoft Windows & Mac OS X.
