Kingsoft AntiVirus

What is Kingsoft AntiVirus?  (from Kingsoft Security)

Kingsoft Antivirus is a completely free antivirus solution for detecting, cleaning trojan virus, and protect your computer. It can be a standalone product, and can also work along with other AV.

Overview

Kingsoft AntiVirus is a software program developed by Kingsoft Security. The most common release is kingsoft antivirus, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. When installed, it will add a context menu handler to the Windows shell in order to provide quick access to the program. The primary executable is named kismain.exe. The setup package generally installs about 80 files and is usually about 19.06 MB (19,984,388 bytes). Relative to the overall usage of users who have this installed on their PCs, most are running Windows 7 (SP1) and Windows XP. While about 71% of users of Kingsoft AntiVirus come from Japan, it is also popular in the United States and MA.
