What is Java SE Development Kit 6 Update 17?

The JDK is a development environment for building applications, applets, and components using the Java programming language. Java Platform, Standard Edition or Java SE is a widely used platform for programming in the Java language. It is the Java Platform used to deploy portable applications for general use. The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The primary executable is named javaws.exe. The setup package generally installs about 43 files and is usually about 147.22 KB (150,757 bytes).
