What is ss helper?
SS Helper (installed under various names) is a protection mechanism that is designed to protect bundled software of potentially unwanted programs distributed through bundles. Also know as SProtector, SS Helper is typically installed with adware such as toolbars and its primary purpose is to prevent a web browser's home page or search engine from being modified to something other than what the adware has set it to. According to multiple anti-virus products this software is generally defined as either an unwanted application or a trojan.
Overview
The primary executable is named sprotector.dll. A majority of users end up uninstalling this less than a week of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 3 files and is usually about 1.47 MB (1,544,274 bytes).

How do I remove ss helper?
You can uninstall ss helper from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
- On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, under Programs, do one of the following:
- Windows Vista/7/8/10: Click Uninstall a Program.
- Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.
- When you find the program ss helper 1.74, click it, and then do one of the following:
- Windows Vista/7/8/10: Click Uninstall.
- Windows XP: Click the Remove or Change/Remove tab (to the right of the program).
- Follow the prompts. A progress bar shows you how long it will take to remove ss helper.
