Snap.Do

What is Snap.Do?

Snap.Do is a web browser addin/toolbar (depending on the browser it is installed within) that plugs into all the major web browsers including Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox. Snap.Do provides the standard generic toolbar features such as social integration for Facebook and Twitter as well as others. It also leverages the SimularSites engine to provide "recommendations". On installation it will modify the browser's home page and search providers (which will not be reset on removal) in order to perform redirects to the developers search portal. In addition it collects various data about the user's web browsing habits. Within Internet Explorer the Snap.do Smartbar is injected as both a toolbar as well as a BHO (browser helper object). Smartbar is available for manual download at the website snap.do but has also been seen being bundled with various 3rd party installers.

The software is typically bundled with third party installers such as Open Candy. "Offer your users the free Snap.do browser toolbar which provides search, quick access to social networking sites, streaming radio, screen capture app, and a PDF creation tool. Note: Sets homepage, search default and new tabs to Snap.do search."

Can anyone tell me how on earth I can possibly take it out of my computer? When I run the uninstaller it somehow cancels itself.

I hate this stupid programover a year ago
I never agreed to even install the stupid program and now the annoying thing keeps overwriting my options. How is one supposed to get rid of the effin thing? I got a site from Resoft, but the fix is only temporary. You type in 'about:config' into your address bar, do a search for snap and right click on the ones that say snap.do. You can modify it to whatever site you want, but every three or four days - if you're lucky - will have to be redone. Still annoying.

Toolbars such as this from third-party software providers can change your search and home page settings or cause other problems with your web browsers. These toolbars can get added when you visit a website and click on an "Install" link, when you download and run a toolbar installer, or when you install software that bundles a toolbar or other browser extension. Be careful when installing or updating other programs and make sure you do not select any options for toolbars or other bundled software that you don't want when downloading software on the Internet.

I downloaded a program and I made sure the check boxes asking to install additional software were disabled. The next thing I know I had a snap-do toolbar on my home page. I went to control panel and uninstalled the toolbar. now when I try to use Firefox i get the snap do search page come on.
