What is Mozilla Firefox?

Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source is a web browser coordinated by Mozilla Corporation and Mozilla Foundation that is a heavily localized. Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine to render web pages, which implements current and anticipated web standards. Functions can be added through extensions, created by third-party developers and thus provides an environment for web developers in which they can use built-in tools. Firefox uses a sandbox security model, and limits scripts from accessing data from other web sites based on the same origin policy. Firefox 3.0 uses version 1.9 of the Gecko layout engine for displaying web pages. The new version fixes many bugs, improves standard compliance, and implements new web APIs. In particular, it makes Firefox 3 the first official release of a Mozilla browser to pass the Acid2 test, a standards-compliance test for web-page rendering. Firefox features a redesigned download manager with built-in search and the ability to resume downloads. Firefox 3 uses a "Places" system for storing bookmarks and history in an SQLite backend.
