Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

What is Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack 1?

Service Pack 1 for the .NET Framework is a software framework that includes a large library and provides language interoperability across several programming languages. Programs written for the .NET Framework execute in a software environment, known as the Common Language Runtime, an application virtual machine that provides services such as security, memory management, and exception handling. The class library and the CLR together constitute the .NET Framework. .NET Framework 1.1 is the first major .NET Framework upgrade. It is available on its own as a redistributable package or in a software development kit. This is the first version of the .NET Framework to be included as part of the Windows operating system, shipping with Windows Server 2003. If .NET Framework 1.0 is removed, installing only .NET Framework 1.1 also provides the system support for version 1.0, except in rare instances where an application will not run because it checks the version number of a library.
