HomeTab is a browser extension that modifies the browser's search and homepage as well as delivers contextual based advertising.
Overview
HomeTab 6.1 is a software program developed by SimplyTech LTD. During setup, the program registers itself to launch on boot through a Windows Schedule Task in order to automatically start-up (this is typically done to avoid any UAC prompts). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The primary executable is named WBrowserProtect.exe. A majority of users end up uninstalling this less than a week of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 20 files and is usually about 9.85 MB (10,332,384 bytes). The installed file TBUpdater.dll is the auto-update component of the program which is designed to check for software updates and notify and apply them when new versions are discovered.
