What is Adobe Update Manager CS3?
Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3) uses the Adobe Update Manager (AUM) to notify users of product or component updates and automate the download and installation of these updates. The updater will automatically connect to the Internet to check for updates for the installed Adobe products. To allow Adobe to collect information about successes and failures of updates the Update Install Reporting feature is added.
Overview
Upon installation, it defines an auto-start registry entry which allows the program run on each boot for the user which installed it. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The main program executable is adobeupdaterinstallmgr.exe. The software installer includes 4 files and is usually about 1.74 MB (1,826,816 bytes). adobeupdater.exe is the automatic update component of the software designed to download and apply new updates should new versions be released.
