Adobe Flash
What is Adobe Flash?
Cross-platform plugin plays animations, videos and sound files in .SWF format. Flash is frequently used to add streamed video or audio players, advertisement and interactive multimedia content to web pages. Flash manipulates vector and raster graphics to provide animation of text, drawings, and still images. It allows bidirectional streaming of audio and video, and it can capture user input via mouse, keyboard, microphone and camera.
Overview
The most used version is 10.3.183.10, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program registers itself to launch on boot through a Windows Schedule Task in order to automatically start-up. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The main program executable is FlashUtil10x_ActiveX.exe. The software installer includes 10 files and is usually about 6.64 MB (6,958,920 bytes). The Adobe Flash Player Update Service (FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe) included with the Flash Player is set to run once per day if Flash Player has been configured during installation to install updates automatically when available.
