Mozilla Maintenance Service

What is Mozilla Maintenance Service?

Firefox now installs an optional service called the Mozilla Maintenance Service. This service allows Firefox to install updates without requiring you to click yes in the Windows User Account Control (UAC) dialog. Once Firefox has downloaded an update, the Mozilla Maintenance Service gets permission from Windows to allow the update to be applied without requiring you to click yes in the Windows User Account Control (UAC) dialog. Depending on the usage environment of the computer, you should remove it as it has some serious vulnerabilities which allow MalWare (which can even run off a website, without needing to be locally installed) to perform operations at the same permission level as the user. If you are using comprehensive Antivirus, Antispyware & Anti Malware detection (e.g. a typical "Internet Security Package") then it should pose no significant risk. If not, then I would advise against keeping it.
