What is Ginger?
Ginger Software is an editing program that enhances written text by checking its grammar, punctuation and spelling. Ginger Software operates as an online service and supports MS-Word, MS-Outlook, MS-Powerpoint, Internet Explorer and Firefox. Its main feature is the grammar and spelling checker that runs seamlessly with the different user interfaces. It also has a text-to-speech function that enables users to hear sentences before and after correction.
Overview
The most common release is 3.5.223, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The primary executable is named GingerClient.exe. The setup package generally installs about 8 files and is usually about 275.08 MB (288,444,871 bytes).
