If you use AVG you're already failing. Try the free version of bitdefender or ad-aware,.. or ANYTHING else. AVG is the lowest performing AV software available.

Just spent 4 hours expunging this from an elderly person's computer. It had ridden in on something else she thought she needed to install. It had hijacked her home page in Fire Fox, IE and Chrome. One of the more obnoxious things it installed was "Delta Search," a real piece of shit. AVG failed to find all the crap Browser "Protect" installed. The machine was laden with tracking software and pop ups. When she tried to visit the site www.foxnews.com," She got a notice that this site was not allowed- was this piece of crap produced by the NBC/ MSNBC? Anyway, after manually uninstalling 6 pieces of shit this thing had installed, going through Fire Fox, IE and Chrome, manually deleting pieces of Delta Search and getting rid of the proxy server they had her using, I was still getting directed to the delta, and could not get Google to be set as the default browser. Finally ran AVG again and was left with a file AVG could not deal with which referenced game tool bar. Removed this item from program files, and finally got rid of all vestiges of the browser hi jacking Browser "Protect." After cleaning up the registry and defraging the drive, her computer is back to normal. The software vendor/ supplier "Bit89" needs to be hauled into court. It is purely vicious malware.

This program is found by Revo Uninstaller and can be removed by it. Revo also scans for leftovers.

I noticed that in the add/remove programs that BrowserProtect was installed against my wishes in contrast to the other poster the BetterInternet did not install. With the new release I would like to warn everyone that BetterInternet & BrowserProtect will self install even after choosing not to install any third party adware using the installer.

I have recently noticed a folder called BrowserProtect. Not sure what it was I ran a virus scan with AVG and it reported that the file was infected and failed to remove. I then looked into the folder and one of the files was BrowserProtect.exe and an uninstall.exe. I then tried to uninstall using the uninstall.exe and it asked for permission to continue and i clicked yes, then nothing happened. After this I searched the web for information and came accross the website www.bit89.com which has an uninstall section and looking at it I had to download an uninstaller, nothing happened. My anti-virus then done its scheduled scan and when it got to the BrowserProtect folder AVG froze.

On Win XP the Windows task manager shows 2 instances of BrowserProtect.exe: User and SYSTEM. The user instance constantly generates a huge amount of page faults - although there is plenty of available RAM. Why?
